Berbere– Berbere is an Ethiopian spice mixture that is the flavoring foundation of Ethiopian cuisine, a basic ingredient in Dabo Kolo, Doro Wat, and many other dishes.
Ingredients: Chili Powder, Paprika, Salt, Pepper, Ginger, Coriander, Cardamom, Fenugreek Seed, Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Cloves, Allspice, Onion
Ras el Hanout– A traditional Moroccan spice mix, the name means “head of the shop”, suggesting that it was the master of the spice shop who prepared this complex blend. It’s often cooked with rice and couscous dishes.
Ingredients: Cumin Seed, Ginger, Coriander Seeds, Black Peppercorn, Cassia Cinnamon, Cayenne Pepper, Cloves, Allspice
Harissa– Described as “Tunisia’s main condiment”, Harissa is commonly used in Northern Africa to flavor stews, soups and couscous. Add 1 Tbsp and mix with 1 tsp olive oil and a dash of lemon juice to make a paste.

Piri Piri– While the word piri comes from an African word for chile, Piri-Piri chicken is traditionally from Portugal. This flavorful seasonings combines the zest of chile heat with bright citrus flavors characteristic of Piri-Piri sauce. Goes great with chicken, beef, pork or fish.
